On my two hives, I have placed five mediums and one deep for honey this year. Expect to add another medium to each hive as well. I expect the flow to min. last through July 4rth week and i anticipate extracting the week after. As such, I have made my first purchase of containers and labels. Ordered enough for 5 gal. Can't wait to get started and see if my expectations equal the results and see what it all looks like in the end. Last years extraction was just for family and i got about 2 gallons. I am hopeful I'll get 7plus gallons this year.

Good going. Are these supers have frames of foundation or drawn comb?
If it's drawn - it's entirely possible to get them filled with a good nectar flow. I've seen a strong colony fill a medium super in a week.
I only had two drawn mediums from last year. These bees drew out the additional 3 mediums, and the deep as well. I will extract the deep and use drawn frames for some nucs I'll be getting soon. They are all full to the gills w/ honey, particularly the deep. The deep feels like 75 plus lbs.
I got around two gallons from a medium paryly filled!
I got 30 poubs off a cut out in january and a medium off that cut out in march.It is the driest on record here.Hope to get some more in the end of june

I haven't extracted yet but I counted what I am going to harvest, it was a very dry year here also, it hurt my clover bloom but Tulip Poplar bailed me out so, as for as the count that's is ready to harvest is this

We're way behind on rain here..8 to 9" for the yr.. The Easter freeze got about all the tupil poplar - we've had some clover since then. They're working hard just not alot to bring in. I haven't extracted yet - it'll be the middle of July before I do.
I'll have:

5 meds.
1 med. cut comb
1 med. round
I have extracted 150 lbs from 7 colonies and have that much more to go.
I had a lot of stuff that bloomed before the 20th of April, thats when the Tulip Pop's bloom. They were cut back about 30% by the freeze here.
Plus I had overwintered colonies and drawn comb to put on.
I don't know how much necter redbud trees have but we had a world of those blooms, they came before the Easter week freeze. Now we are getting rain and the elder berries are in bloom.
Around here the Kudzu will be the next big one.

After all the cold weather and no rain the bees had to withstand this two days ago.. I think they've been traumatized.....I'll be lucky if I get anything this year.... :-D

Steve, those hailstones are humongeous. Can't imagine. We had some hail that was probably about half that size about one month ago. It is certainly a strange one when that happens. Have a wonderful day, great life. Cindi
