Title: Sticky board
Post by: shakerbeeman on June 14, 2007, 09:31:41 AM
Is it possible to make a sticky board by applying something to a piece of posterboard or tin that the mites will stick to?

Thanks

I read somewhere here that people spray it with Pam cooking spray to make them sticky.

I have some Pam so will try. I see mineral oil mentioned here elsewhere. Know it's not motor oil. Is it for health aid? Also could you tell me what is coroplast, Robo? Is it key that the background be white? Thank you both for your input.

Vaseline is what I use. Buy the off brand it's cheaper.

You can buy mineral oil in the pharmacy, it is used as a laxative.   Coroplast is like plastic corrugated cardboard.  It is used a lot around here for temporary advertisements on street corners (big sales, going out of business, election signs).   I usually stock up the day after election days :-D

I use pam for my sticky boards because it is so fast and easy to apply.  Just a light coating does the trick.  Have a wonderful day, great life.  Cindi

Thank you all for the helpful suggestions. Seems like the application of the Pam might be the easiest. I will check my new hives after the necter flow ebbs.
