Title: What are they doing?
Post by: mat on June 27, 2007, 10:41:31 PM
This is not very good quality video, but you can see the bees moving back and forth with their heads down on the board like they were licking it. I saw it a few times in my other hives too.

Its called wash-boarding they do it inside and out usually by young bees. they are cleaning and polishing the surface.I have boxes that have the paint worn off from this activity.I read a article about feral colonies that lived in and on rock out croppings and there was rock that had actually been polished to a fine finish I think it exhibits hygienic behavior and thats got to be good I hope  RDY-B
