Title: First Honey Harvest
Post by: papabear on June 30, 2007, 06:44:16 PM
Today was my first time to harvest honey. It's more work than I though. But it is well worth it. I got stung once through my pants on left leg. I ended up with 8 gals of honey from only 2 deeps.  I have 1 deep left to harvest later it was only 6o% full. The only thing that went wrong was at the very end of clean up I layed the extractor down to dry out water and the valve hit the ground breaking a thumb screw. Quess what? The extractor was borrowed!! So I went to lowes and bought a metal thumb screw. I will post a pic if i can. 19 frames were full like this one.

Great getting that harvest.
Must still be quite young using deeps as honey supers, awful heavy to be toting around to honey house.
Remember those days, umm long ago.
