Title: Expanded last night
Post by: KONASDAD on July 17, 2007, 01:35:38 PM
I ordered three Purvis queens a while back and received them just before the 4rth of July. I was on vacation, so my club president was kind enough to put them in Nucs he provided and settled them in nicely. I retrieved them from his apiary last night and now will have five hives when they are expanded to a deep which needs to be soon as they are doing well. I look forward to discovering whether these queens will be superior to my minn. hygenics which have perfomed admirably. They are a gorgeous golden honey color and stubbier tahn my other queens. Stocky in comparison and not long. The workers are all mixed up colors which is cool to see. Cant wait to see how they perform! I also made arrangements for next year to place two hives on a friends property that abutts a peach orchard of 500 acres. Apples for 250 acres and a 12 acre vinyard. Cant wait to do that and try a varietal honey from the apple and peaches. Lost of locusts trees in area as well.

If they are any bigger than your other queens you will have to have a medium just to house the queen. Congradulations on your expansion. I guess that will mean more beer so more extractions can be done. ;)

Sincerely,
Brendhan

why goto the liquor store when you can just make your own???

It will be better than what the store has to offer also.
