First read this forum and search on the internet for beekeeping sites so that you know what your really want and then it would be more clear what you need !

I am new beekeeper myself - started this year and after I read a lot I decided to go with top bar hive.
Why ? Because it is cheap and simple to build and bees seems to be happy in there.
What you need ? Well you first need beehive and bees to put into ;) After that it is your decision what beekeeping gadgets you want.....

Welcome! Check out the Beekeeping Course on this website at http://www.beemaster.com/honeybee/beehome.htm, and pick up a book, Beekeeping for Dummies or The Backyard Beekeeper are two good ones. Read and see what is involved before making the decision to move forward.

At this time of the year, it is probably be too late for you to get started, depending on where you live, so you have plenty of time to research and get yourself prepared for early next year.

Welcome.  First I would update my location in the profile area (this will help people better answer questions) and then get some books (I like the beekeeping for dummies also) ,read alot on this forum and ask questions. You can also check the membership map and see if there is a member close to you to help you get started. Buying an established hive would probaly be best at this point in the season.   A hat and veil, gloves, smoker, and hive tool would be a great start.  good luck.
