I have an old super containing frames of capped honey which is about 50% crystallized. There is also some webbing and other signs of wax moth having been present. I would hate to lose the drawn comb. Any advice?
Your best bet on salvaging the comb is to give it back to your bees and let them clean it. I had a few frames with crystallized honey, and they cleaned them out nicely.
You may want to put the frames into trashbag and then into the freezer. It will kill all the wax moths or any other bugs. Then remove and let sit a little while and then return to the bees.. They will clean up the mess and not have to worry about wm!!
Thanks for the advice Robo & Queen Bee.
