didn't realize you were adding shipping in to your queen prices, he said queen prices average and if he was going to drive somewhere to pick up queens $18 bucks is about average. so with shipping your 20-25 would be about right,
Wow, I am paying to much. I purchase them from Sacramento Bee Store for $25.00 a queen.
Annette
mine are 25 delivered to the bee store. i pick up from there.
i think 15â,¬ would be somehow the average. queens with pedigree and stuff are a whole different story, anyway...ya 15â,¬ but like a month ago this khm....i'll keep it for myself, sold the queens for only 7â,¬ :-x

If you're getting a really good queen, you're not paying too much. If you're only getting an average queen, then you are paying too much.
Is that counting shipping?
I went to Express mail which is usually overnight. I get a lot less losses, especially in hot weather. But the shipping is more than $16.
No shipping, I pick them up at the store in Sacramento. I believe, though, that they have been really good queens.
Annette
if you want very good queenss at a great price that with shipping might cost around $25 call Dann Purvis... great queens

I think someone said you get what you pay for. I do ship free on orders of 5
Don
Mine are $15 plus shipping, so for one queen it would be $21.95, but if you order more than one queen the shipping is spread out over mutiple queens. :)
The guy I bought from last year was 15 said he was going to 28 dollars this year pick-up only. Thats why I'm trying to learn to raise my own. I have an appointment approx. 50 miles from my house this Friday to learn one on one how to raise my own queens. I think b-tween my wife and I we can give the local guy a little comp. I can order a A.I. bred queen from Calif. for a $100. Jimmy
Annette I just payed $29 for a queen from TABER'S HONEY BEE GENETICS in vacaville. I kind of had to because Sac Bees don't have thier bee's in yet and the girls were not going to wait.
I ordered a queen from Purvis Brothers at $21.00 + shipping. Still dont know how much it will be yet for shipping, they dont ship until June.

Thanks for the info. I did not even know of another place to purchase queens, around here. I hope she turns out great.

I had that class with Serge LeBesque today and he believes with everything being delayed around here that these early queens will be poor and probbely will be superced in a short while. So I hope he is yrong and your wish comes true.
What class is this??? I did not know about this class. What did I miss??
Don do you think Ca is to far to ship one of your queens to? And what type of queen cages do you ship in?
Angi
Because I have one hive that was from a package the other package is going really good and has quite a bit of brood where these guys are bairly drawing out comb and the queen has laid small clutches here and there on several frames. I think she may need to go as it is spotty at best.
Angi, I would give that queen a little time that you think is questionnable. Maybe there isn't as many young bees to look after lots of brood and they just need to have a few more hatch out to feel that they can increase their colony numbers, like the other colony is doing. Wait a couple of weeks and see then. Beautiful and wonderful day in this great life. Cindi
the thing is her laying is spotty a chunk here a chunk there on parts of the comb on several combs all over the deep. Not a clutch here and one on the other side. but in the cornors on the sides. not in the middle and not in a set pattern. The other one is going much faster and doing much better.
Angi
Miss angie; got 10 from Don last week; they all sure in mighty fine shape and looked mighty good. The fat beeman takes verry good care of his customers
Bud1 You dont have to call me Miss Just call me Angi. We are all friends here and Miss makes me feel old lol. Even though I will only be 35 in Aug. With my fibro I feel like I am 80 some mornings but thats another story lol.
Angi
Angi, I think that Bud1 calling you Miss is just the way that the folk in his part speak. It seems that that terminology is used alot. I have listened on Ventrillo to Bud1 and he says that to me too. I think he said something about it being a respect thing in the way that they talk or something like that. Have a great and wonderful day, Cindi
I just love being called Miss Annette. It makes me feel very good and it is respectful. I appreciate how Bud speaks to women. Just my opinion.
Annette, I know exactly what you mean, that is really respectful, kind of old-fashioned talk, and I love it too, hee, hee. Best of this wonderfully great day, more to come. Cindi
The way I see it the only expensive queen is the one that does not produce. If she lays well and the bees that hatch have a good temperment and are hard working then she was worth what ever I pay for her. Which at this time was $18.00. :-D
