Title: Queen Care Day of Receipt
Post by: Moonshae on August 08, 2007, 12:51:13 PM
I'm going to be getting two queens shipped to me overnight. I'm having them delivered to me at work so they don't spend all day baking in the hot sun on my doorstep. Is there anything I should or shouldn't do when I receive the package at work? I'm guessing the truck might be hot, but it is air conditioned in here, so they should be "comfortable" once the delivery actually happens. Should I give them a drop of water? Would it be ok or better to take them out of the package (but obviously not the cage!) and put them in a dark, cool desk drawer?

Water and a cool dark place is the way to go.

spray w/ sugar water and HBH if you got it. On the screen, they will lick it up as needed.

Just queens and attendants right?  I would not spray them with anything.  I'd put a drop of water on the cage for them twice a day until you get them in the hive.
