i didn't want to go after another "hive" of yellowjackets, or bumble bees. when i got a call about tons of bees all over this hedge and property, i asked the lady to take a picture of the bees and email me. she did. she sent me some very good shots of honey bees around her house.
i packed up...drove an hour....found a lovely nest of yellowjackets in the ground and no bees in the hedge :-(. she did give me something for gas and that was nice. i told her to mow her lawn and spray the yellowjackets.
People are incredible.
Ahahahahahahahahhahaha, this one's for the book or something, LOL
i will never, ever understand how people can't tell apart (this puzzled me waaay before i even considered beekeeping)
I had one nearly like that. It turned out to bee honeybees but they were foraging on her grape vine. NOT SWARMING!!! Then she was accusing the bees of destroying her grape crop.
I had my first swarm call a few days ago, I was thrilled. The guy told me they were 20' up on a tree branch and asked how to tell if they were honeybees. I said if they're honeybees, it'll likely be a big mass of bees. If there's a paper nest involved, they're not. Alas, there was a paper nest.
KathyP, doesn't that just frost your cabittsters!!!! What a waste of time. I can only hope that you may have found some new terrain to go out and spend the night with your mare, on some kind of overnight camping trip.
By the way, have you done any overnight camping with your steed this summer? If you have, I would love to hear your escapade, and I bet others would too. Tell us a story. Have a wonderful day, and a beautiful life to boot. Cindi
no adventures this year. between my trips and people coming here....and the bad weather, we have not done anything more than some local trail riding.
we may get out sometime in the next two weeks before the next visitors come, or maybe September, but you know the weather in September is iffy. after all my complaining about rescuing stupid city folks, i'd hate to end up on the news
Kathy, rats!!! I thought you could tell a tale or two. Still, trail riding is fun, even if it isn't an overnighter. Best of this day. Cindi
