Title: cut out today

I did a cut out today in the Hollywood Hills there was not one cell with honey
anywere Unbelieveable.I gave them a couple frames of honey.Pretty slim Pickens here

Kirk-o, did it appear that the hive was probably a late swarm? How much brood comb was there?

No the owner said they been there about a year.I filled 8 med frames with brood and comb.It has been really bad here this year no rain.I had one of my nucs I got from Dee Lusby abscond this week.Death Valley has got more rain than L A a ruff one

Yeah, I've been seeing a lot of this myself. Most hives don't have much stores. Hoping for a good fall flow so all the girls will be happy and taken care of. Good luck with the new hive.

Sounds like the same problem I'm finding.  Lots of flowers but very little nectar.  On 1 hive I inspected there was only pollen and brood and the brood was spotty.  I figured the bees had began eating the pupae for nurishment.  Needless to say I'm now feeding all my hives to build up stores as the other 3 weren't that much better off.
