Good afternoon everyone. I have a hunting cabin in Graham Texas there has been a hive of "tame bees" in an outside wall for several years I have just let them be. Recently I checked on the cabin and my tame bees dont seem to be so tame anymore. They swarmed me as I got out of my truck. None of them were stinging just bumping into me alot. I hate to exterminate them but cant just let them be anymore with hunting season right around the corner how can I get rid of these bees? There are 2 coloneis now insted of just the one. Any advice or help would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks
There are two towns named Graham Texas. Are you in Garza county or Young County.
The cabin is in Young county.
I was afraid you would say that. If it had been Garza I could possibly have done something to help out.
Perhaps they might calm down a bit pretty soon.
look through this post, there might be someone close that can help

Or they are africanized...they sound like mean bees and nobody likes mean bees. When that first one stings you, the others will stop bumping too and join in.
Don't feel bad if you have to call an exterminator.
Rick
If you do decide to call an exterminator, make sure they are a beekeeper as well. Most exterminators I run across don't know jack about honeybees and will make your bee problem an even bigger problem. You need to call someone who is intimately familiar with honeybees, understands honeybees and has fooled with them before. Don't make the mistake of calling Joe blow exterminator. By the way, I happen to be a licensed exterminator in Louisiana, so I know what I'm talking about. My biggest, most challenging bee removals happen reguarly, after I have been called in when they have had one or two exterminating companies botch the job. Please call someone who is experienced. you won't regret it! Good luck!
Well I tried waiting the bees out thinking they would calm down, but they just became more aggressive I couldn't get with in 50 feet of the cabin. So I cut a hole on the inside of the cabin wall and exterminated them. These bees gave me many hours of enjoyment watching them work and at times defending there home from other robber bees. Thanks for everyones input. I tried inserting a link to the photos of what was uncovered in the wall but evidently I do not have enough post to do so.
That post limit for posting pictures really sucks. I have tried on many occasions to share pics with everyone and can't yet. What is the post count necessary?
Redneck, its a shame you couldn't find someone who could remove them for you. You will most likely have another swarm investigate your cabin in the near future. They always do when there have been bees there before.

It's because porn spammers were signing up and immediately posting their awful photos. You can always send your photos to a moderator, they will post them for you until your count gets high enough. No one knows how high is enough, however, as that would give persistent spammers a clue.

Contact one of the moderators and they will post them for you. The spammers did some nasty stuff. The mods will be happy to help you. You need to give them the link to the picture and they can add it.
Sincerely,

Ya, when I first joined the forum a year ago, I got a nasty picture from a spammer, it was rather annoying and did not make my day!!!! Have a beautiful and wonderful day. Cindi
The only porn I wanna see on this site is beeporn.
on the cabin thing: make sure you clean out the remains of the hive. you will either have a stinky, melted mess, or a new swarm will move in, if you don't. if the bees had been AHB's you probably would have been stung many times. might be that something else had been trying to get at them and they were in protective mode. you did what you had to do. had to recommend the same thing to a couple of people who called me this year.
