Title: open air colony

Do these hives survive well over the winter?

If you scroll down to my pic section you can see the "lawn mower" hive. Same type of exposed hive, under a porch but right next to a large opening, the hive lived there for 3-4 yrs until I removed it. Our winter temps rarely dip below the freezing mark.
