I searched here at the forum and couldn't find any mention of this book. I stumbled on it at Amazon . . . it is non-fiction and a wonderful cross between apiculture hostory and modern day beekeeping. I know Ann and Cindi in particular would LOVE this book. Heck, I loved it! JP

Have you read William Longgood's book: "The Queen Must Die"? Another must read it you haven't already. The author takes you through a year in the hive. Very well written.
Utahbeekeeper. Yeah!! I do not have this book, I want this book, and I also want the book that Dick is speaking about, "the Queen Must Die".
Wintertime is my time for reading. I have about 2-3 hours in the morning before the kids all get up and blinking crazy takes over. This amount of time depends on of course when I get up, but that is the only quiet time I have and I try to get up as early as I can. My first place to visit in the morning in e-mails, mostly, I give my oldest Daughter a good morning hug and kiss, sent away to her in a moment's time. Then I visit my other favourite place, our bee forum. Now, that more wintertime is coming, I will be spending another part of my day reading, I love to read and study.
These two books I must order to have in my hands soon. I do not have any reading material other than the research that I have done and transferred to my desktop from the internet (that will keep me pretty busy), but nothing like getting a book, a nice cup of tea (or two or three) and sitting down for a good session of reading. These books I am ready to order.
If there are any other great books that my forum friends can recommend, let's get them going, wintertime, sleepy time, resting, reading, listening, learning. Have a wonderful and beautiful day in this great day. Cindi
I too agree, both those books are great, and a very good read.
There are others as well, for those who love to learn, and get insight from others about the bees.
I have just finished reading these books, and am looking to move on to the next two.
I highly recommend: "The Hive" by Bee Wilson.... yeah that is her real Name.
"Letters from the Hive, an intimate history of bees honey and Mankind" by Stephen Buchman
and finally "Bees in America, How the honey bee shaped a Nation" by Tammy Horn.
I think those out there who enjoy reading will enjoy the adventure and insight that these books have to offer. I have others as well... I will keep you posted. I only recommend upon reading...if not worth the read... I usually don't share!

I've seen Robbing the Bees at Books a Million. They never used to carry, when ever I asked, beekeeping books now I'm finding them more and more in the NLR store. Sounds like I need to get this one.
This was the book that got me interested in bee keeping to begin with. I picked it up as being a biologist Im always interested in natural history books.
I was pretty impressed with what I learned though I made an error picking up this book. What Im really interested in is a good read regarding issues facing beekeeping today and something that rings more along the lines of popular science.
It was a good read, the author defineately enjoys the hobby and it shows in her writing.
Robbing the Bees and The Queen Must Die are awesome books. I'm gonna check out Letters from a Hive.
