I'm new to beekeeping and need to sort out what foundations to buy.
Do I get wired for the brood chambers and non-wired for regular supers. Do I get a different type of foundation for brood supers? Size? I'm looking at regular wax foundations for sure.
Need help in sorting this out.
I recommend 2-3 langstroth brood boxes per hive and the rest mediums as supers.
They are easy to handle and bees cap lower box sooner than big one.
3 brood boxes are good because you may play with honey frames which bees fill in brood area. You take honey frames off from brood area and lift them on the top of boxes.
I recommend you to play game first without excluder and then try, how it work with excluder.
Good queens, good brood area , big hives---> much honey

I like the wooden frames with the pierco plastic foundation coated with wax. Wax moths can not destroy this foundation.
I use wired foundation for brood and supers, the only time I dont use wired in the supers is when I am wanting cut comb honey......
