It is the lavender plants that get my bees through much of the dry period here in Northern California.
They can't get enough of these flowers.

Laveneder gets worked hard, i only wish I had more. And yes it survives w/ little water.
I planted six lavender next to my hives and I am glad to here is helps during the dry season in California. I understand lavender honey is great and here it comands a good price.
It is getting cold even here in sacramento, California. I expect the first snow in Fiddletown (where my bees are) this week.
