Just had to take these pics in my yard today to share with my Northern friends. Buckwheat in full bloom although the cold that is coming may kill it all off.

hummmmm, odd, what kind of buckwheat is this? it's, it's...it's hobit buckwheat?!?!? or why is it that low? lack of rain? there's also quite a few white flowers missing to the "white field" description, hehe.
though, still nice to see, but our fields are whiter at this moment, hehe.
You guessed it, lack of a lot of rain. Not sure of what variety. It is all Dead now from last nights freeze. :'(

The buckwheat is short, but still beautiful. When my buckwheat grows the plants get to be about 3 feet tall, they are huge and very full of flowers. I love to gather the seed of the buckwheat, it is a fun seed, I love the feel of it after I have cleaned it all off and I put my hand into the bucket of seeds, neat stuff.
You make me envious of the weather down there (not the freezy stuff, but the warm stuff). We still have winter for January, February is when it begins to warm up. Have a wonderful and great day, Cindi
