How does a sting from a honey bee compare to the sting of a yellow jacket.
I've been stung several times by yellow jackets.
Which would you say hurts worse?
Speaking as someone's stepped into a Yellow Jacket nest before in the woods I have to say they sting much worse and did it repeatedly before I accidentally crushed their nest.
Yea,,, I was working on a house and took off a wooden shutter and they came at me,,,got stung 4 times till I got away.
Never been stung by a honey bee
Believe me, a yellow jacket will make you wish it had been a Honey Bee.

I think a honeybee is a less painful sting and less then a min ,,, the yellow jacet hurts more and longer ,, for me any way .... the yellow jacket will get you for standing in its flight path ,,, the honey bee only when I mess with them .. and then Im exspecting it .

I was doing a removal once and I knocked a wasp nest down to get it out of my way. I was fully suited up so what did I care. The sucker crawled up into my pant leg and started stinging me about the knee. I kept slapping my leg hoping to get the critter but she just kept right on stinging. Must have got me 4, 5, or more times. They seem to walk and sting with every step. Just when I thought it was over it started again just below the..... as my grandson calls them..... butt cheeks. So I was swatting there. It was finally over. Or was it :?
As with honeybee stings these things start out burning. But instead of stopping the burning it seems to intensify. And like that cute pink bunny it keeps going and going and going..... I'd say it finally stopped burning 6 hours later.
Wasp was much worse for me. The honeybee sting feels just like a bit of heat for a few seconds. The wasp sting went on much longer and hurt like heck.
WASP AND MEAT BEE. Yes I know meat bees were not asked about but this is by living it my self. was out playing as a kid and for no reason I was stung between the eyes by a wasp. Not fun at all. It made it feel like one of those bad sinus headaches with infection for days between the eyes on he forhead. Not to mention the nice red dot there.

I will gladly take ten honeybee stings to one yellow jacket sting thank you.

Ran over a nest of yellow jackets with a lawn mower once. They did'nt like it and let me know it real quick. Got me mostly around the ankles and some crawled up my pants legs and let me have it. Dang that hurts

I did that too, once. luckily I saw them before they got me. Ran like h-e-double hockey sticks, left the lawnmower running until it ran out of gas, and pulled it back into the shed in the dead of night!
Not all stings of even honey bees are equal. Some hurt for days and some hurt for only seconds. But all in all, I prefer honey bee stings, for sure.
In the flight path of a yellowjacket, it got me in the ear, not in the channel, thank goodness, three stings, pain for over 12 hours, couldn't sleep, madder than a hatter I was.
Now, wait until you get stung by the blasted Bald-Faced Hornet.....now that is one powerful hit. My Husband and I were working out the back one time and it headed straight for his chest. He watched it, told me he saw it comin' and bang!!! Got him but good, now I think that was pretty painful by the screamin' and cryin' that he did.....(oops, did I say that, not really cryin' but the tears were there....hee, hee, poor dude!!!). Beautiful day, watch out for lawnmowers over the nests........Cindi
