is there any problem useing light Karo syrup in place of HFCS
Ingredients: Light corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, salt, vanilla.
Not sure about the karo.. never really thought about it. All I ever use is plain old sugar and water in whatever ratio I need at the time :-D
Danno, there is something wrong with this picture. HFCS is not even really that good for bees to begin with. It is recommended to use white or beet sugar. Karo syrup, look at the ingredients....I would strongly suggest that you don't even put that thought into your mind to use it. No....no....no!!!! Have a beautiful and great day, Cindi
Light Karo syrup is used on fondant.....but I wouldn't feed it straight to the bees.
I can't say for sure. I've tried it on a small scale and I'm not sure how to interpret the results. But the salt and vanilla are probably not good additions. I've never used HFCS and don't plan to. It's hard to beat sugar syrup.
It is a ingred. to a fondant recipe that I found and thought I would try on a smale scale
Danno, sorry I don't even get why you would want to. Karo syrup would be more expensive than plain white sugar I am sure :-\ Have a wonderful and great day, Cindi
I was just trying to follow a recipe exactly which called for HFCS. If I could just 2-1 syrup that would be great and alot cheaper
