Title: Children's bee suit
Post by: DaveKow on February 29, 2008, 04:03:48 PM
I was just wondering if anyone has any links of info. on childen's bee suits.  They have one on Dadant that is reasonably priced, but the size is way big for my 4 year old daughter.  The one on Mann Lake would fit, but is outragiously priced.

I am going to the big bee meeting in Wooster, Oh, tomorrow.  Maybe I will run across something there.

I just dress my grandkids up in white or light brown shirts and put veils on them.  If they stand with hands in pockets and just observe they don't need anything else.  I still use tan shirt and pants as my bee suit.

Hi ~

I just purchased the "wee bee" suit from Brushy Mountain in NC for my son who will be 4 this summer.  I bought a size 4-6 so it should fit  him for a few years.  It's fabulous!!  It's very well make & comes with a veil that zips on around the shoulders.  They also carry child sized gloves.

I'm happy with the quality & my son is thrilled!  Check it out on their site ~  FG

My son with my extra suit on.  It is just a Tyvek paint suit from Home depot. The leg cuffs are taped to his boots. The string from the Alexander Veil holds the suit up around his waist so his legs don't get tripped up. The rubber gloves were a last minute addition so he can use his hands (sort of).  Total cost about $35 including the Alexander Veil that I keep for curious visitors.

We found and marked two queens today!! He was getting bored, so we didn't even look for the third. I may go and look for her tomorrow when I get some time. More on that later on another post.

Thanks for all of your posts.  I broke down and bought the one from Brushy Mountain.  They were at the bee workshop in Wooster, OH.  No tax, no shipping,  so in my mind I got a deal.  It does seem well made and I figure when she outgrows it, it will easily sell on Ebay.
