Title: Too inexperienced to hive the swarm.
Post by: DayValleyDahlias on March 05, 2008, 12:34:16 PM
Well, try as I might, I just could not get the bees off that truck...they kept changing formation on me, and I had to crawl under the tree and squat to even get to part of them...I did manage to get SOME bees in the hive, but no Queen...I called the fire department, they gave me the number of our county ag office, no one wants to come out to get these fine looking bees.  My only hope is that they will find the hive body attractive...time will tell...over and out

Good luck with it. At least they are hanging around. I've enjoyed the updates.

How about if you get a deep hive body with 1 or 2 drawn frames in it and couple drops of lemon grass oil in hive . Place the hive with entrance touching the swarm see what happens.

That has been done!  Check my 'Swarm Updates' thread for more info!

Don't give up. We all know you can get them into a new home. Stay with it. 8-)
