Title: Mouse guard or no mouse guard
Post by: rayb on March 09, 2008, 02:03:24 PM
I have an entrance reducer 3/8 inch high with 1/4 inch screen over it to keep mice out, but it is always clogged with dead bees. The bees can still come and go through the top ventilated area (shim under cover).

? Is the 1/4 inch screen necessary? Can a mouse really do the limbo under a 3/8 inch reducer?

Would a smaller height reducer with no screen keep the mice out but still allow for the dragging out of the dead?

Thanks, Ray

If a mouse can get its head through an entrance the rest of the body will go as well, they flatten their bodies and squeeze through. 3/8" is small, but I have seen mice run through weep holes between bricks without breaking stride.
