I was a big fan of OZ on HBO - after watching many seasons, they ended with EVERYONE in the prison being evacuated after some deadly chemical killed at least 5 men in the mailroom. Buses of prisoners and guards drove down the road, leaving OZ empty and eventually, at an intersection buses would turn toward other prisons with the inmate. So in the end, EVERYONE left OZ - I think a brilliant end to a hard knox series.
As well as I remember the tear jerker of Mary Tyler Moore - I was a lot younger, but that one had me choking up a bit :)
Ok John, you had to mention Mary Tyler Moore, so I have to mention, I watched the Dick Van Dyke show as a kid, because of her, huge crush, wooo weeeee, she was a dream to me!!!
I remember the last show of Gilligan's island, sort of. I just remember how sad we were when it was ending. We used to get off the bus and go to Grandma's and watch Gilligan's Island and Speedracer everyday!! Those were the days.
I really miss Hill Street Blues, by far one of the best shows ever made, but my best and favorite, never to be duplicated, not even close, Columbo. Peter Faulk is Columbo!! Boy, he sure was good in the In Law's though with Alan Arkin.
As a rule though, I don't like endings, I want my favorite shows to go on and on, so its hard to say I liked that ending, as a rule.

I don't remember it all that well but I think the Waltons ending was one of them.
I'm not good at remembering things, if I'm not using the info out it goes. Was a kid then, teen & young adult partying with most of the other good shows & tv wasn't that important to me. Since it's recent it would have to be the 6ft Under ending, wrapped the whole thing up & gave us no reason to hope for it to come back.
