Title: Roundup, 2-4-D
Post by: rich on April 20, 2008, 11:04:04 PM
Hi,
My neighbor is planning to use Roundup and 2-4-D to kill the weeds in his field, which is right next to my beehives. Anybody have any experience as to the effects it will have on my bees?
Any advice is much appreciated.
Thanks

Roundup looks to be harmless - the LD50 is like 25 grams per bee.  http://www. biotech-info. net/glyphosate.html

Here's an interesting link about pesticides and bees:  http:// cru.cahe.wsu.edu / CEPublications/ pnw0518/pnw0518.pdf

It should be harmless to your bees. If you want you could cover the hives with some screening.
