Hello,
I am just starting out a hive this spring here in Plymouth, Maine. I am hoping to jump right in with a no/minimum chemical approach to beekeeping. I pick up my nuc this weekend. I'm sure I will have a million questions before too long.
Hey welcome. This is a good place for questions.
I have tons of family in Maine. All over so I won't name just one place. I'm looking forward to my next visit (whenever that may be). I bet bee keeping is great up there. Have fun with it and good luck.
hi :) I am also getting my bees this weekend (also in Maine). Glad to see another mainer here!
You aren't by any chance getting yours from Overland in Portland? If so maybe I will see you there! I was told she has 29 people coming this weekend, about 20 of us newbies. And I think she was planning on trying to get the new people to come around the same time so she could give us the low down on starting up.
Hello there!
I'm getting my bees from Merrimack Valley Apiaries in Massachusetts. I don't know why I chose to go so far to get bees, because I would much rather go to Portland than another 2 hours beyond.
I still have a bit of work to do before I'm ready for the bees....still haven't painted my hive, or finished the deep frames....been busy planting fruit trees and bushes. We put a lot on our plate this year....it will be sink or swim!
Hope all goes well with your bees!
lol I hear you there! We have planned a big garden this year, planted a bunch and will be planting more. I still have to paint my hive and get it all put together by Saturday, I just got it today in the mail and its still all boxed up lol. So yeah sink or swim...time will tell right? ;)
Steve, welcome to our forum, this will be the place that you can spend time and learn, and tell us of your experiences. It is a great place, you will make some new friends here, enjoy your stay, tell us your stories. Best of this beautiful and wonderful day, Cindi
