Title: Is it ok to use varnish?
Post by: Janemma on May 04, 2008, 12:01:42 AM
Is it ok to use varnish/ (urathane) on the OUTSIDE of the beehive?  Just want to check before I use it in the morning - its a new hive and the bees are not in it yet.

Thank you :)

I think it would be ok if/when it were completely dry, completely.

I've painted with urethane with no problems. Just give it time to dry well so it's not giving off vapors any more before using.Couple of days is okay!

Thank you!  :)  The bees arrive next Saturday so it will have plenty of time to dry :)

Thats great news!  Thanks so much!
