Title: Question Re: Combining, What to do when...
Post by: DayValleyDahlias on May 06, 2008, 11:12:34 AM
Dear Friends,

On Sunday May 4 around 5:30 PM, I took the swarm colony and combined it with the strong hive.  I did place a 2 G bucket of syrup on...the box is sealed up.

Should I leave the box sealed up, or should I provide a top entrance for this group of bees?

I haven't seen evidence of any paper shreds at the main entrance yet. I would hate to come home from my short trip to find the swarm colony had perished due to my inexperience...

What to do?

Muchas Thanks

I always leave a top entrance.  I've never had them fail to remove the newspaper with the top entrance open, usually withing 24 hours.
