What wind speed is too windy to check a hive? And what should the tempertaure be at or above to check a hive?

To give you an idea, yesterday it was 11 mph winds with 18 mph gusts.  I didn't go in.  Temperature wise, I like it to be at least 70 but if you are quick, you can get away with 60s.

I've gone in with winds like that on a clear day but they are a bit proddy as the temps were in the low 50's.  Wind is just as vital as temperature when it comes to proddy bees.  Sometimes you bite the bullet because it's been so long since you last checked the hive.

11mph? That is a calm day around here. Very seldom do we have less than that.

It wasn't really the 11 MPH that I was concerned with but the 18 MPH gusts that seemed to occur more often than 11 MPH.

You do what you have to.  Queen rearing, I often have to do things in pouring rain, or high winds.  But if I don't have to I don't.
