Title: Pollen counts at pollen.com
Post by: misfyredOhio on May 13, 2008, 01:01:54 AM
Is a pollen count a useful resource? I downloaded a pollen widget from pollen.com for my google home page It shows me that tomorrow will be high (the count is 10.2). It is designed for allergy sufferers, but can I extrapolate that it will be a good pollen-collecting day for the bees? Just curious. If not, at least I will know when my sister is miserable with allergies.  :(

If you have Asthma or allergies like I do, yes.  Otherwise it is more an indicator of wind volume on flowers.

I like to use it and I think it is a good indicator of whats available for the bees.

I use it in the spring to figure out when they will start rearing brood in earnest and when the maples have bloomed.
