Title: Urgent Queen Cage Question
Post by: JordanM on May 15, 2008, 05:32:49 PM
I just hived a package of bees and put a marshmallow in the hole of the queen cage. I put the hole with the marshmallow facing up and i looked at the dadant magazine and they have this facing down. Will this make a difference and will they still release the queen.

As long as the bees on the outside of the queen cage can get to the marshmallow, I wouldn't worry about it.

The instructions that came with my bees for installing them said to rest the cage on the bottom of the hive..I would imagine so long as the bees can get to the Queen and to the marshmallow to release her, it shouldn't matter should it?

Just remember to check on her in a couple days to make sure she's been released.
