Title: Beehive sighting
Post by: Kris^ on May 21, 2008, 02:02:38 PM
So we were were having dinner at a diner near our place (where isn't there one -- this IS South Jersey  :-D ), when Liz hollered, "hey, look at those hives!"  I turned and looked toward the intersection, and there were two large flatbed trucks (maybe 18 -- 22 feet long), stacked high with hundreds of multicolored behives.  You could see straggler bees buzzing around the trucks, but for the most part, there wasn't much flying activity at all.  We figured they were Harvey's trucks, moving them down from north Jersey, because they were heading down the road to his place.  And besides, they were the same sectioned boxes (hard to describe) he builds and that I've gotten from him before.  What I also noticed was that they seemed just stacked up on pallets, with no visible tie-downs.  But they mave been attached right to the pallets, because I've seen 4-bottom-board attached pallets sitting around his place (the pallet is part of the bottom board).

It was just kinda cool to see these loads of colorful hives rolling through town.  Like the circus coming through.   :)

Harvey's Honey is in South Jersey, Rt 40 near Pole Tavern & Rt 77. I'd say he is about 20 minutes east of CowTown.  :-D

Yep, I've started buying a lot of things from him.
