Title: Should I worry??
Post by: Rodni73 on May 22, 2008, 12:17:49 AM
I installed the new queen in her cage yesterday! The original queen with the package died  :(!This is a new package of bees that I installed last Saturday.
The temperature dropped here in New Jersey last night to 46 degrees F! Meaning the queen was hanging from the frame with 4 to 5 worker bees with her.  Should I worry??? I mean will the bees ball up near and about her cage and produce heat or will they ball up at the top frames as usual and let her freeze! I have an entrance reducer placed... Will she live in time for them to free her tonight it is not as cold 54 F?  I pocked a hole in the candy using my pipe cleaner... Any ideas??

Thanks

I would think they would cluster up and keep her warm and she should be out in a couple more days. Chin up and no worries. ;)
