Title: My captured swarm is doing great (pics)
Post by: stinger27 on May 30, 2008, 01:56:23 AM
I have had one hive for about 3 years and this year they swarmed for the first time. They settled in a small locust tree about 15 feet up.  I cut the tree at the base and slowly lowered tree, bees, and all down onto a sheet with my hive on it.  They climbed right in.  It has been one week and two days since I captured them and they have already drawn out all the racks in my hive body, and my queen is laying like crazy.  Here are some pics of my inspection.                                             (http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/9330/larvaeuu7.th.jpg) (http://img524.imageshack.us/my.php?image=larvaeuu7.jpg)
Notice the curled up larvae in the cells, and also the pollen.

That is some bright pollen!  I enjoy watching a swarm build up, they can really boom!
