The NJBA will hold its Spring Meeting on Saturday, June 7, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Snyder Research and Extension Farm in Pittstown, NJ. Hosted once again by the Northwest Jersey Beekeepers Association, we will have presentations by Dr. Diana Cox-Foster and Sr. Extension Associate Maryann Frazier. Dr. Cox-Foster will provide an update on CCD (Colony Collapse Disorder) which she co-authored with Dennis vanEngelsdorp entitled "The Role of Pathogens in CCD and the Impact of Migration and Other Stressors on Bees". Maryann Frazier will speak on the "Role of Pesticides in CCD and Overall Concerns Impacting Honey Bee Health".
Lunch is provided and there will be two wagon tours of the farm during the lunch break. For information on the Snyder Research Farm, take a look at their website at http://snyderfarm.rutgers.edu/index.html.
Cost is $20 per person if you RSVP in advance or $25 at the door. Please let Charles Ilsley (
[email protected] or 732 469-0043—before 8 p.m. please) know as soon as possible if you are attending so that there will be enough food for all. Young adults (ages 13 to 18) are $10; children 12 and under are free. You can pay in advance by sending a check payable to "Northwest Jersey Beekeepers Association" to:

This is a great opportunity to get some of the most current honey bee research information and for beekeepers to exchange information. New beekeepers are encouraged to attend and meet more experienced folk who will be more than happy to give you conflicting answers to your questions.
