Title: Saw the queen!
Post by: watercarving on June 07, 2008, 01:58:08 PM
Was in my weaker hive that was having queen issues. Pulled back my follower board and one top bar and there she was. Not a lot of bees around her but she was looking around. Very good news for this hive.

[...Not a lot of bees...Very good news...]

I don't think I would be satisfied in this situation.

There are lots of questions to be answered.

Why are there so few bees?
How much brood is there? Are there enough bees to cover it all?

Are you providing too much room?

Are you feeding? What are you feeding? Is there a flow?
Do you have a forager population to collect a flow?

Just being present does not assure healthy hive dynamics, just tolerable conditions.

Congrats on spotting the queen, but think about the bigger picture.
