Hive #1
After 3 weeks of my 3 lb package building up on starter strips the population is finally begging to climb. I took the center frame out and saw my first worker bee emerging from her cell. Last time i inspected on the 2nd frame from tyhe end there as a double comb that i removed that was abut 3 by 2, and this week they have rebuilded a double cone on both sides in the same spot. So i removed the bouble comb and switched both the frames that they were buyilding it on to the last frames on the end. But all in all looks like everything is going good. There were quite a few little black ants on the inner cover with eggs so i mixed up a 1:1 solution of borax and jelley and put it ontop of the inner cover.
Hive #2
This hive a got a week ago from a beek that said it was a month old split that he made.
They have the center frames in the bottom brood box filled with capped babies. The 2nd from end frame is full of capped honey and pollen and the last frame is all drawn but nothing in it yet. I added a medium super to the top of this when i got them and there were about 50 bees in there, but no stored honey or eggs in the cells.
I did not see any ants in this hive but i put the 1:1 borax jelley solution under both of the hives on the ground.
Will the bees get into this and die?
How long will it take for the bees to move up into the super and start filling it up?

Depends on the strength and duration of your honey flow. If the flow is light and short they may not go up at all. If the flow is hot and heavy they were probably in the super before you left the bee yard. Anything in between is fine and expected.
