Title: Too late for bees ?
Post by: PeteWNY on June 10, 2008, 10:17:48 AM
Hello,

This year was supposed to be my first year as a beekeeper. I had 2 sources for bees, and both fell through. How late can I get bees ? Are they available later, or should I give up until next year ? I'm located in Western NY State.

Many thanks,

Pete

If you can get nucs, I would say you still have time this year.  I wouldn't suggest packages this late though.

swarm season is upon you in NY, so join a bee club, get your name on some lists and try to find a swarm! Also, local clubs often have the whereabouts on bees. Theres a lot more demand than ever before, but clubs have insider info.
