Title: Friday The Bastage 13th!!!
Post by: JP on June 13, 2008, 11:04:02 PM
Wow, a curve ball on Friday the 13th? Nah, come on, well I got one. Bees were in between a 2 x 6 and a 2 x something, maybe a 2 x 5, and the top plate had a space behind it that went up more than 2'! Yes, 2'!

Unorthodox construction to say the least. I managed to get a deep filled up but was unable to remove some comb that was up in the space between the top plate and stucco above.

Opening the stucco from the outside was not an option as there was a roof overhang right up against the area where the bees were entering.

Nice bees, no queen, curve ball on Friday the 13th, Ahhhhhhhhhh, T.G.I.F.!!!!

Oh, and the lady I did the job for was very cool, she wanted to assist so I set her up with my extra jacket, I have a new girlfriend!

Just don't tell my wife, she's Cuban, ya know! :-D

Yeah, she was laying good, I just couldn't get to her because the construction was so Fred Flinstone.

[...the construction was so Fred Flinstone.]

First off they don't build house with quality like that anymore... and...
The Flinstones never had any honeybee problems (at least not publically on TV).

[...I have a new girlfriend!]

Better watch it, she'll want to repaint all your hives girly colors and you'll have to keep your tools all nice clean and organized.

[...Whats up with no queen? ]

My queens always surface about three days after I deemed the hive queenless and place a dozen starter cells for queen rearing that they inevidently eat the larvae and build bright white combs across the cell cups with fresh new stores and eggs (just enough to make it a heart-break to remove).

I'd have no cooperation if it wasn't for uncooperation.
