Title: Old Sourwood Honey gone bad??
Post by: Vetch on June 20, 2008, 11:35:13 AM
I recently came across an old jar half-filled with sourwood honey - it got pushed to the back of the pantry and ignored for maybe 5 years. Just dipped into it and it had developed a bitter, malty flavor. Is this normal?  Is it still good?

Honey doesn't spoil.  Not sure what is up with what you have.  Is it yours?  If not, maybe somebody cut it with something and that made it go bad.

could it be that it was harvested before the honey was capped over causing it to spoil? just a guess
