Wow!  Sorry about your loss!  Makes a beek want to put some kind of GPS tracking bug on them if that happens a lot.

I hear its a trend out west, and the crooks sell them to unsuspecting farmers.

Or keep Africanized Bees!!!   HAHA

I see Mannlake sells GPS units that hide in frames now.  It's expensive though.

It happened to my Great Grandfather back in the 50's or 60's (long before I was born, I just remember hearing him tell the stories).  He had like four colonies and went out there to check on them and they were gone.

even bees know its easier to rob then work. Lowest form of crime. Stinks for you. They must have been prepared since your hive should have been heavy this time of year.2 people, truck etc. ask around see what you find out.

Install Claymores around the bee yard.  You can ID the thieves from body parts.

That really stinks !!  Starting and maintaining a hive takes work, plus you become somewhat attached to the girls. (Anthropomorphically speaking)  Stealing someones work is rotten. (Although it's done all of the time.) It may be vandals and not thieves. Eventually justice will be served.  I'm sorry for your disappointment.   :-\

With luck the girls will know they've been stolen, sting a few crooks ....... and swarm back home.      (What's life without hope?)
