Title: Two full brood boxes
Post by: johnwm73 on June 29, 2008, 05:42:50 PM
Both my hives have two full brood boxes. I put a super on each mainly for ventilation. But the bees seem to leaving and coming back at a good rate. I see more bee activity around 5 to 7 p.m. than any other time of day. Is there anything I should be doing other than watching for mites? I am not feeding them because of the supers being on just in case they start to move up into them.

They are probably hauling water at that time of day.  Do they have stored honey?  Check down through the drawn frames and see what they have.  If all you find is water, you might want to feed anyway.  If you are near blooming mesquites, cotton, or soybeans, they might be bringing in nectar.  That's about all that's left now.

My top box is mostly nectar but on the inner 4 frames there is brood. I have been seeing them coming from the woods that I live near by so I guess they have found something in there to bring either water or nectar in from.
