Title: split first ask questions later.
Post by: we BEE crawson on June 29, 2008, 10:31:32 PM
Well In one of my hives I had five or six capped swarm cells and they seemed to be bursting at the seems. So I took the queen and a few frames of brood honey and pollen and put those  frames into a nuc.  I then thought i should take some of the swarm cells and make up another nuc. so i did  The original or parent hive was left with two queeen cells on one frame, and  many frames of egg, brood, ,pollen, and honey.  I have kept the two nucs closed untill the morning when i will take off the screens to the entrances.  I shook off some extra  bees into the two splits.  all the frames in each seemed full of bees .  Does this sound about right ??  Seems like what others are doing when finding swarm cells in there hives.  Just having the newbee post split jitters.  please let me know if i left somthing out.   thanks   Dave
