I have had a small beard on my entrance for the last four morning's. Is this a bad thing?

As the weather stays warmer at night, more bees will hang out on the outside, rather than head in once the hive cools down. It's normal.

It is normal,  but a slatted rack will help as it gives them more space inside to spread out.  Not a big deal, but will keep them out of the rain.
