Title: swarm problems
Post by: beehuntertrapper on July 09, 2008, 10:53:36 PM
I was  wondering if any one else has had swarm problems recently. I had a swarm yesterday in a 2 deep hive with a super that was partially drawn. Both deeps were drawn except for 2 plastic frames.Fortunately I caught the swarm and it seems happy.  I was concerned about my others thinking the same way so I went through 6 more hives. 2 of them were 3 deeps with 2 supers each and both were about to swarm. I split them into 3 hives each there was plenty of bees, brood and queen cells.  I have 3 others in about the same condition and they don't have any queencells. My bees continue to cap honey in the supers and they seem busy. I have 18 hives and thought I might be entering  the slow part of the season.

where are you?  you can change your location in the profile section.  that way you'll get better answers to your question.

in my area, bees are swarming now on the blackberries.   they had nothing until now and are just now building up to peak.
