Title: Nickerson Farms Observation hive?
Post by: johnnybigfish on July 10, 2008, 09:39:41 PM
Does anybody remember the places along the highways called Nickerson Farms?..Sort of like Stuckeys?
Anyways, there used to be one here, and as a kid we used to ride our bikes up there to look at all the trinkets and get a drink or snack....There also used to be a big, red, skep looking observation hive on the wall inside the store. It stuck out from the wall and was sort of like a oblong bubble, rounded on the front and flat to the wall, and you could watch the bees in it!..And if you went outside the building around the corner, you could see where there was a small pipe that the bees used to get in and out.
Has anybody ever seen one of these or know where I could get one?

your friend,
john

They went out of business after a group of investers bought them.

Do a Google on Nickerson Farms, lots of info.

And Yes the bees did escape into the reastraunt In St. James, Missouri.

There are four buildings still in use between St.Louis, & Springfield Mo. I was in one just the other day, and nope the bee hive was gone.
