Title: Whats going on?
Post by: MustbeeNuts on July 13, 2008, 08:19:27 PM
So I have put screen bottom boards on the hives, and I noticed this behaviour a few times, its when it seems to cool down around 70 degrees or so, which this summer seems normal, we have only had maybe 4 days above 80'. Or is the hive crowded perhaps, but then again the weaker hives do it also. Just the screened bottom ones , the wood bottom, I have one ,, doesn't do that ? And if you look at the bottom side, its covered with bees. I think there trying to keep the heat in??

My booming hives look like that pretty much every day - just a lot of foragers coming and going and mixing with the guard bees.

Are these bees foragers, or are they just staying at the entrance?

Looks like the entrance of a good strong hive.  I would bee happy to see that at every entrance.
