Title: Bees on Robber Screen
Post by: HAB on July 20, 2008, 08:55:53 PM
Posted on another forum, maybe get some ideas here also.
Had a case of Robbing, installed Robber Screens on all Hives and Nucs. Robbing seemed to stop. My Bees are back to bringing in pollen.
But now something I haven't seen before. Large clumps of Bees on outside of Robber Screen sucking the Bees on the inside. Looks as if the inner Bees are feeding them.
Whats going on and what to do about it?

Someone here said " The inner bee's were loading the others"

Hope you can stop them..I lost a deep with about 4 frames of honey last week because I was open feeding. I now have a bucket feeder on the top with vents closed.
My girls are replaceing it very fast. Lots and LOTS of pollen coming in too.
Good Luck...
Wish I could help but I'm REALLY new..

I've seen it when the foragers are confused by the screen it looks like they are transferring nectar/water to the house bees.  I've seen this on SBB's also.  Not a lot but some.  If the screen is big enough it is possible.
