Title: Mama's new toy....
Post by: dpence on August 01, 2008, 12:19:17 AM
Just some shots of Mama's new tractor.  Looks like we will be micro-farming in style next year.

Very nice toys to have. I have heard good things about those tractors and I see you got the loader too. You sure will find lots of things to do with it for sure and the roto tiller makes a great seed bed. Have fun and enjoy.

We are tickled with the Mahindra, its very fuel efficient (Mitsubishi Diesel Engine) and has plenty of power.  Hopefully it will dry up enough to till up a space for some late buckwheat for our bees.

now that's fun!!  just watch the tilling.  everyone i  know that has blow up their transmission has done it with the rototiller.  low gear-slow speed!  your wife will find so many things to do with that tractor, she may not have so much  use for you!

I'm a  John Deer man myself.  But we also have a 7740 Ford and a Long.  The Long we got for almost nothing.  Replaced some o-rings and installed a BushHog Loader with a bale spear and have been moving 1500lb bales with it now for twenty years with out any problems.

My neighbor has a two year old Mahindra Hydrostatic drive.  He loves it more than his wife (well, maybe AS much as) and works it hard.

My problem is my 1948 (best guess) Ford 8N's low gear is too fast for a tiller :(

Used to be a creeper trans you could add into the 8Ns powertrain.  Had one on the farm next to my Grandparents place. It was just the right speed, faster than a snail but slower than a racing turtle.  Was a sweet garden tractor.  You could snag a stalk of corn, stop, and back off of it before you pulled it out of the ground.

be sure you have a slip clutch between the end of the PTO and the tiller on that Mahindra.

Paid for is the best kind of machinery...lol.  Marlena has decided to do some much needed landscaping around our place.  Could get interesting. :-D
