Title: Very 1st Harvest
Post by: gguidester on August 09, 2008, 10:34:46 PM
Friend(tandemrx) and I tried out his new extractor today.  Took 2 supers off my good hive, and were rewarded with 70+ pounds of very light BEAUTIFUL HONEY!  Wow is this fun!  Thanks to all here that have guided us in our first year. Still have the Golden Rod which is thick in the area and just starting to bloom.  If it doesn't pan out I am very happy with what we got today. Key is a hose with hot water for clean up.  I think thats what saved us.  Thanks again to all.  mb :) :) :)

Very GOOD. I remember my first harvest.....best honey in the world.

You may want to leave the goldenrod honey for the bees to eat during the winter. It tastes good but it has an odor similar to sweaty socks.
