Title: Mouse Guards and Reducers. From a Newbee

I'm guessing I should put the entrance reducer back on in mid September after the honey super has been removed and I start feeding the girls again?

That being the case, when should I add the mouse guard, and do I use it in tandem with the reducer, or instead of?

I leave the mouse guards on year round, because we have a lot of skunks.

I reduce the entrance in addition to the mouse guards when I am feeding.

I just use the mouse guard.  This is my favorite. Dadant sells these.

Since I went to top entrances, I don't do mouse guards.  You'll need to wait on reducers until you have a dearth or the first killing frost.  Then you will need them.  Before that they may interfere with the fall flow harvest.  Mouse guards should be on before the nights get frosty and the mice move in.
